Starting today, reads and writes are free for all Gadget projects.

Starting today, database reads and writes are free for all Gadget projects.

Until now, Gadget has charged for database read and writes, inadvertently creating work for our users and making it your responsibility to manage the amount of database operations your apps were performing.

Our goal has always been to make app development easier for developers, and so we’re changing our limitations to give you unlimited free reads and writes, while Gadget manages the efficiency of syncing that data. We will ensure your API calls are performant through Gadget's abstraction methods, and you can confidently read and write as much as you need from your Gadget database, without having to worry about the cost.

It’s important to note that you still pay for request time on Gadget, and should take that into consideration when writing your queries, but moving forward you won’t have to worry about your total query count or wasting time on query count optimization.

This pricing change will apply to both your current billing cycle and future ones. If you have any questions or feedback, we’d love to hear from you. Join our Discord to tell us what you think about the change.
